I hope the massive lag problems when saving files to network drives is fixed, this was a showstopper for me with the beta.
I never had that problem, but I did always lag when uploading files larger then 1mb to a site (whether it be SF or Skydrive). :| Unsure if it was MSE related.

    no problem

now only if they change how virus definition updates are gone out.. not through windows update would be nice because it stores a zillion updates in the history clogging up space and not being able to tell the other updates apart from the virus updates
It appears that updates are done automatically. I have it installed on my XP home computer.

The site also has links to the Microsoft malware centre which includes current threat information and RSS feeds

Quick and efficient installation, just like a 4mb file should be.

If you have a pirated copy of windows, beware, it requires validation. Sucks to be you. :P

It's worth it if you're paying for security software, and NOT engaging in risky behavior.

If you are doing high risk activities, you should probably pay for a high end solution.

I've decided to give it a trial

I have no problems with avast but never like to rely on any one piece of software.

Also of course as it is from Microsoft and is free it will, I believe become very popular. I need to be able to comment on this if a client asks so will run it for a week or two and see what happens

    First impressions are Good

    Install very smooth

Native 64 bit code installed (no *32 in Task manager anyway)

Low memory overhead - highest I've seen is 6100K active and now sat at 640K

CPU overhead is almost non existent in normal use
