    Multiple Programs

Is it okay or suggested to use these 3 programs at the same time. They are Avast, Malwarebytes, and SuperAntiSpyware. I know that running multiple antivirus programs can sometimes cause issues. Do I need all 3 of these? Should I just use one, if so which? Should I use a different combination?

I use all three myself. The free versions so that I don't have any two of them running at the same time. Avast is the only A/V of the three. The paid versions of both Superantispyware and Malwarebytes can scan all the time. You don't want more than one scanner running at the same time. Use Avast and then once a week or so, up to you how often, run the others in addition. Been using this exact configuration for years now with no problem.

So basically, have avast open as a real time shield, but none of the other applications need to be open. Then scan with all three on the weekends?

    Yes, that should do it

In "Services" (type services in the start 'search box), you can set both Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware to manual, so they won't run at start-up. Be sure to stop the services, if they're running before setting how you want them to start.

Thanks. What's the difference between changing the startup in msconfig and adjusting the services? Just curious.

    Robo,
I use Microsoft Security Essentials as my only AV, Windows Firewall, then like Jacee I set Malwarebytes and SAS on manual.

Just make sure you use only one AV as your primary AV software.
