    Microsoft Security Essentials hangs up.

Hey guys, thought i'd throw this out there. MSE will not complete a full scan, runs for 22-28 mins and hangs up. Does not hang up on the same file. Will run a full scan in safe mode. Hitman Pro found a couple of threats and eset found a couple. It is clean now but will still not run through. Any help would really appreciated.

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I personally have switched to Panda on all 3 machines from MSE
MSE has always been too slow to scan pretty much as slow as windows defender and neither has ever blocked or found anything in all the years of using it.

Which is my advise remove MSE and use something else
Uninstall from uninstall a program and use this too just to be sure it's gone cleanly as possible,

I would never advice using MSE unless a person also has Malwarebytes Premium = Not free.

There was a batch of updates within the last month pushed out by MS that has caused issues with several folks (but not all)then not being able to complete a full MSSE scan.

I'd do a search at MS or google for 'Microsoft update breaks MSSE' or similar...

In your 'system specs' you have listed:
Antivirus Panda/ Malwarebytes Pro/ Superantispyware Pro
    Browser ie10 & Pale moon

MSE will definitely hang if you're using another Antivirus (Panda). Mbam pro and Superantispyware Pro are fine, but don't use both in 'real time'! They will cause a sloooow computer if you don't have a better than average Internet speed.

IE 10 is out-dated so you should be using IE 11 for important security updates to your computer.

Thanks for the replies. I figured it out. It was an optional update. I haven't been too impressed with MSE. I really like Hitman Pro but it's not free and it's a second opinion malware. I also use Malwarebyte but not the pro. I use Chrome and not IE. Is Panda the way to go? I wouldn't mind trying a new antivirus.

I've been using 360TS for about a year, and, could not be happier; with it's bundled tools, it's pretty much like CCleaner added in with it, and, they've even added a bundled software firewall if you wish.

Yes Panda is well worth looking at closer :)
So far it's working pretty well although the mobile platform is annoying :/
