File Popped up in my Documents.

Today I noticed a file in my documents,
that obviously hasnt been there long,
and yet has a creation date of 3/15/12.

It says remote desktop connection.rdp file that is 0k ..
Not sure what it is or where it came from, a little worried here as in red you can see what worries me in attributes.. also I have not changed anything that would allow me to see hidden or not see hidden files.

Right click on it and choose to scan with your Anti-virus.

    symp,

    That file should be OK.

However, if you like, you can also upload the file to VirusTotal for a security check: http://www.virustotal.com/

Select: Choose File, and a prompt opens for you to locate the file.

Then, click the Scan it! button.

If the file is listed as already analyzed, click on: Reanalyse file now.

When done, please post the scan results.

I believe that is a normal Window 7 operation. Here is mine.

As long as you don't set up a remote connection you don't want I don't believe their is a problem.
I don't know what you mean by popping up. I have to search for mine.

    OK,
So it's a normal file, but what I mean by popped up.. is that it wasnt ever there in mydocuments until yesterday.
I've never used remote desktop via windows7 built-in or otherwise, so I am having a hard time now trying to figure out why a setup file for it just popped up out of the blue.. is what I'm wondering about...
Does the appearance of this file mean that someone has used the program?
Was this caused by a windows update?
    etc.

    I would look in Windows Services and see if is on manual. When I go to;
Start/Remote Documents/Show Options/Open/ I get the program Remote Desktop. As far as I know that is normal.
If you are worried about being infected you could run some scans to see if you are infected. If you need suggestions of such scanning programs just ask.
