    Quick query

Is the Windows Malicious Software removal tool the same as the Microsoft one? Just noticed it in some Windows updates?

From what it says here, yes it is the same tool.

The only thing I don't like about the tool is it buries itself in your folders & apparently, from what I've seen, the older versions aren't removed.

When patch Tuesday comes around, I d/l the tool separately & place it in a folder where I know I can access it easily if needed. I then do a quick scan with Malicious Software removal tool, click "check for updates" & it will be removed from the list of updates.

Just keeping the accumulation of files on my HD down...when a new version comes out I delete the old one & d/l the new one.

Thanks fellas they do seem to chop and change the titles around a fair bit - confusing for a silly old bloke like me even more so for a new starter:)
