Having used both AVAST! free and MSE, I can assure you AVAST! is much better. It updates more frequently and far more reliably than MSE and stops more nasties without noticeably slowing the computer when using the default settings.

I know my anti virus is free and for life because Microsoft hasn't sent me a bill yet. You know how much Microsoft likes money. I haven't use Avast in years but I have noticed it is catching on. If my memory serves me right Avast also works well with MAM Pro active just like MSE. That's good.

I use the free versions of MBAM and SAS with free AVAST! without any problems. When I was using MSE, SAS would catch several tracking cookies on my weekly scan. When I set up MSE for the first time last summer, it let a couple of trojans through that MBAM caught. Since switching back to free AVAST!, neither MBAM nor SAS have found anything.

No there not the only ones to have done that. My aunt has a lifetime subscription to Vipre AV, suppose to never expire. Doesn't even have a expire date just says lifetime on it.

Does Avast! still have their "talk like a pirate day"? That was a lot of fun.

You could have got one year of BD IS for $0.13 last week. People were able to hoard...errr...stack activation keys for three years. I was tempted but decided to stay with MSE.
