There are no errors showing in the MGADiag report.
Please check Validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate using Internet Explorer - what happens?
If it fails, run another report, and post back with the details.

    Yep...it is marked solved.

Looks like whoever sold that computer to maranatha4u sold him a bill of goods.

If not, there are some serious inconsistencies in that system.

There is always the Dell forum:

Well, thanks for your help on this, Cottonball. A TREMENDOUS help! As a final note, I unchecked the area to do the Windows Update on the nVidia software, and now all the updates load very smoothly and I'm "up to date" in that regard! Can't believe it! I did go to the Dell Support site and updated chipset, video, audio, network and input (in that order) from their site, as I saw that my tower is still under warranty with Dell until May of this year.

So, ALL IS GOOD; and the system now FLIES in SPEED! A refreshing experience. There most likely are other "challenges" in the system, as you've adeptly pointed out; but I will say that it now operates the best since I purchased it.

Thanks once again for your expertise; your instruction was the one to really "get the ball rolling!"

    maranatha4u,

Thanks for the update, and it's great that the system is working for you.

Also, updating the chipset, video, audio, etc., is a good move.

Perhaps you can follow Post #41 by NoelDP, and see what that brings.
If nothing else, Google your results, or check around the Dell forum on matters related to that computer.
If the validation is not resolved, go to eBay, or any similar place, and get yourself a system that validates.
Otherwise, the road ahead may turn bumpy.

Thank you for the kind words, but getting the ball rolling is one thing, and keeping it rolling is another.
Without the contributions of all the members of this forum that came to the rescue, we would have never gotten this far.

    Good luck in your endeavours!!

Because you have had update problems for so long I like Cottonball recommend following Neol's suggestions. I notice you have had this problem with updates before and stopped posting before anybody could help you.

Does that mean you don't want Noels and others help. If so, sorry to see that.

    Wrongly Taken

No, sorry you misconstrued what I was saying. Never did I say nor imply that I no longer wanted help; quite the contrary. What I mentioned to Cottonball is that on this issue that I AM receiving Windows Updates now (received 85 of them, actually); so I'm under the impression that there's nothing wrong with the authenticity of my Windows version (as I don't think I would even receive Windows updates from if the version I have were anything but genuine). Remember, this tower came right from Dell and is still under warranty.

So, fear not Layback Bear . . . . all is well. I just think I've reached the conclusion of THIS issue on the problem of getting Windows Updates, as it seem now to have been resolved; when I tried to get it resolved months prior, all attempts were seemingly futile in getting my PC to get Windows Updates, so I thought I'd try again. But, this time, we got it!

Stay in touch, and thank you again for your excellent help.
