I just loaded a copy of SuperAnti Spyware today to replace Malware Bytes. When I run it through I'll let people know what I think.

edit: A quick scan took 10 minutes which is pretty good. It installs quickly, scans quickly, and doesn't bog down your system, which is good. The problem is that it needs to get better at doing its primary job—removing malware and keeping it out of a clean system. Until then, I can't recommend it.

i am currently using spywareblaster 4.2

but i was wondering if there is a better anti-spyware program to use on windows 7? what are your recommendations?

Spywareblaster is a nice little app to have in the background. It doesn't run like other programs, just adds definitions to the registry that prevent certain spyware from being installed. Malwarebytes is a pretty good one to have just to run manual scans every now and then. It's has frequent updates available, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day, so make sure to update it before running a scan.

Avast also has an Antispyware, and AntiRootkit module built in to it that no one mentioned.

I'm testing spyware doctor at the moment. Installation was pretty quick, the interface is easy to work around and it offers some good advanced options. Scanning is pretty quick and the detection and removal is very high. I'm using the full version but I think the free version would work as well but without the advanced options like browser monitor, pop up blocker etc

MSE uses a lot of RAM (65MB) compared to other AVs

SUPERantispyware is one of the better options out there, but there's a free version.

Mine typically seems to run around 3-5MB.......and with boxes have 2GB, 4GB and 8GB of RAM....65MB really isn't that much anyway. Especially if it does a decent job against protecting from viruses and spyware.
