I just don't get it?
I just don't get it! I thought by using a VPN that I would not get viri! How is it I keep getting the Helkern virus knocking at my door whilst using my VPN.
Kas AV.

Absolutely possitive (I think!). I have had this bleeder pop up even after re-install. It's quite bothersome Zz.
Who told you that VPN would prevent a virus attack? VPN is not a barrier against infection. VPN was never meant to prevent malware from infecting a computer.
In simplest terms, VPN is a method of encrypting your connection between points A (You) and B (The VPN server you connect to). All your traffic to the net goes out through B instead of whereever you are at A. It's mostly meant to allow secure connectivity between A and B. This means that when you connect to an insecure network C, by bouncing A ---> C ---> B that whoever is between A and B at C can't 'sniff' or intercept your connection.
If you connect to point D outside of the network, then you'll just bring in whatever D is serving back through B. Including malware.
VPN is meant to prevent eavesdropping and man-in-the-middle attacks between A and B. That's all. If you point your browser toward an infected website and you're using VPN, you're still going to get infected.
