    Work network detection

Those who have Xp Mode and are using it at work, how does your work network security detect it (can they)?

How does selecting the network adapter type effect detection?

No. I'm just wondering the extent of the detection. Actually for me it could be complicated. My real Xp (other half of dual-boot) is an actual work Xp image with all security settings and is fully work compliant. I log onto this Xp every morning to run updates which is fine cos network admin will know i'm still with the company. when i switch over to W7, i can use most programs and my laptop still gets detected no worries. The only difference between my Xp and W7 is a software that is used to upload my compliancies to a server (this software is yet to be compatible with w7 so it's not installed). Now when i run Xp mode, it'll be just the OS which comes with xp mode. no work apps, or anything like that (having just 2Gb RAM doesn't really give you the freedom to go all out installong work apps). So when i run xp mode, will my network security sees it as a VM (just an app) or will it see it as a real Xp machine?

As xp mode is a VM, I would assume that is what it would be seen as....

I suppose they'll see it as what's noted in this box.

But lol XPMuser is not a real AD user i'm sure.

They might track me down and ask me to .... get compliant

No. It's my work laptop, all things on work laptop is for work (it's compliant). People tend to work from home and so they take their work laptop home. Where is the piracy?

But the Xp from xp mode is my question, Virtual Xp vs Machine Xp. work network security will detect my work laptop by whatever IP, MAC Address, Computer Name, uUser id etc. How do these measure up when i turn on my Virtual Xp?

I apologize, your last post about compliance threw me for a lolapalooza .. I still think that your network admin would be the one to ask though..
