Lol ICit2lol, you might be right.
Look mate still go with Jacee as she is the expert I am just a tinkerer but I know how you feel it is so frustrating. All the same I reckon you just might have to do that. At least you are in in the right place here in SF and there are stacks of really top folks that can and will guide you though a clean install if it comes to that.

My offer of the config will still be there if you so wish.

@ICit2lol I don't care for Comodo at all, so we'll just pass on that one!

@frodi I can't be sure, but you may not have the "true" Aministrator abilities on this computer.

    You're running d:\users\Administrator\AppData\Local\temp
This just plain does not look right to me. The Administrator is not supposed to be run from a temporary file.

Did you set your partitions up like this to begin with? Did you upgrade from Vista with a valid key and DVD (or download)? I see OEM, .. what was the original OS and Computer company?
It looks like you may not have passed MGA's validation ...

Do this ... Please download this tool from Microsoft.
Double click on MGADiag.exe to run it.
    Click Continue.
The program will run. It takes a while to finish the diagnosis, please be patient.
    Once done, click on Copy.
Open Notepad and paste the contents in the window.
Save this file and copy/paste it in your next reply.

No probs Jacee I'll keep that in mind for myself actually as I think the Bitdefender is easier to use now the GUI has changed for the CIS:)

Might Imake just one more suggestion Frodi - I know I said I wouldn't but why don't you just get the data you need off that machine and do a complete wipe / clean all and a fresh install?

That technician inmy mind did not do a great job after all and I am wondering if he actually knew what he was doing??
    I'm agreeing with that!

Was your OEM key ever activated properly? That's why I asked you to run MGA again.

The techie did not clean this machine, nor put Kasersky on it. That was my previous machine, since gone to god. I dl'd Kaspersky off their website and it was installed that way.

Hello ICit2lol, this is a new machine. I bought it just before Xmas 2012. The OS was put on by the vendor. I installed Kaspersky, which worked fine until it started to hang at 85%. Yesterday I read an article on the Kaspersky site where it said to deactivate the app and reactivate. I tried it and it did not work, the app does not accept the activation code, this is really really odd. I followed up your suggestion and went to the Kaspersky Forum and posted there. However, this morning I did a restore and got the app back. Now it hangs at 84%, lol. I'll go back to the forum and tell them what I did. Who knows, there may be a solution.

I 'think' the problem is ... you have a "paid" for version of Kaspersky for one computer, but that computer is now out of commission.
If you copied the download to your new computer and tried to run it, Kaspersky does not recognize this new PC.

You are going to have to talk with Kaspersky Support in order to get a "working" version.

Not quite Jacee, I contacted Kaspersky about moving the app to a new pc. I was told to deactivate on the old machine and install a fresh app on the new machine. Then activate with the key and license # I already had. It all worked fine until recently, when the updating stopped at 85%. I am most grateful for your help in trying to resolve the problem. I have contacted the KIS support team on March 1, but sofar no reply whatsoever.
