Efficiency of Defender in Windows 7

Hi there. After using Defender in Windows 8, I decided to put it to use in a laptop running Windows 7. However, the look of it is different. I know, the setting for 'Real Time protection' is checked. I was just surprised to see that it looks so different. It just makes me wonder if I have the right thing. Some of you must have noticed the difference, too. Thanks for sharing back.

Defender in Windows 8 is not the same as Defender in Windows 7. Defender in Windows 8 is a full anti-virus suite identical to Microsoft Security Essentials. Defender in Windows 7 is an anti-spyware module.

So if you want the same protection in Windows 7 that is offered by Defender in Windows 8, you'll have to install Microsoft Security Essentials on your Windows 7 computer.
