Problems with reboot after using Windows Defender Offline

Judy you could try this

Boot using a Recovery CD or Windows 7 Installation DVD to the Recovery Environment
At the System Recovery Options menu choose Command Prompt
At the command prompt type in the command:
bootrec /fixmbr
Press Enter to replace the MBR and then restart your computer.

Normally, I try to find out the source of the problem with special tools, and then take the appropriate action.

We have no clue what WDO damaged, if anything...

When you hit CTRL ALT DELETE to restart, keep taping the F11 key to see if you get a boot menu option, so you can choose the DVD.

You have a dell so while the PC is booting up tab on the F12 key then choose optical disc or drive .

Click on Repair your computer
Select Windows 7 and the click on Next.

On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:
Startup Repair

System Restore

Windows Complete PC Restore

Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool

Command Prompt

Select Command Prompt

Code:

Bootrec /fixmbr

Restart PC

Let's press on...

Please plug a USB pendrive into a clean computer.
Go to Start > Computer
Double-click Computer, and select the pendrive.
Right-click and select: Format
Press Start on the Format prompt.
Remove the pendrive when done.

Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool:

Select the 64-bit download.
Save the program to the >> USB pendrive.


Step 1.
Please go to the infected computer.
Plug in the pendrive which has FRST.

To enter System Recovery Options using the Windows Seven Recovery Environment Disc:
¦Insert the disc created into the CD drive.
¦Restart the computer.
¦If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

(If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or DVD, check your BIOS settings to do so.)

Step 2.
¦Select Language settings, etc., and then click: Next
¦Select the Operating System you want to repair, and then click: Next
¦At the next prompt, click Repair your computer

Step 3.
On the System Recovery Options menu you get the several options...

Select: Command Prompt
¦In the Command Prompt window, at the blinking cursor type notepad and press: Enter
¦In Notepad, under the File menu select: Open
¦Double-click the Computer icon on the left.
¦Find the pendrive letter, remember what letter it is, click on it, and press: Open
¦Close out of Notepad.

Step 4.
Back to the Command Prompt window...
¦Type g:\frst64.exe, and press: Enter
Note: Replace the drive letter g with the drive letter of your pendrive!

Step 5.
¦FRST64 starts and prepares to run. Follow the prompts.
¦Click Yes to the Disclaimer.

Press the Scan button.

The scan runs, and, the program saves the FRST.txt, on the pendrive.

Step 6.
When done, click the Command Prompt window, type exit, and press: Enter

Remove the USB pendrive.

Back at the System Recovery Options, press: Shutdown

Please provide the FRST.txt in your reply. It is located in the pendrive.

Based on the results, we'll pursue whatever action is appropriate.
