forgot my bitlocker password and lost my recovery key (USB-flash).

    Help


    i encrypted my 1TB External HDD took backup of my laptop on it (including recovery keys backup files). formated my laptop reinstalled windows and now forgot the password for External HDD.

    Any suggestions in recovering the key which is already backed up in the encrypted HDD.

    thinking to format HDD and than attempt data recovery but not sure if i will be able to recover all or nothing.

    Teky I recommend you read the complete thread again.
    It is stated many, many times we can not help you recover a lost password for encryption.
    If one could bypass a encryption password their would be no purpose for encryption.

    Please read the Forum rules again. I think #6 should be helpful.

    The only advice that anybody can give you is don't forget the password or copy it and put in a safe place.
