Firewall - allow program is not working

    Hi,

Even if I allow programs (soulseek, dc++, ...) on Windows Firewall, it still blocks the ports.

I have to disable the firewall to use my programs.

Why? What can I do ?

I use WoKhan (the program is called Windows Firewall Notifier) which made things like soulseek and other programs easier to allow and set rules for for the future. I have no incoming or outgoing connections turned on and this WFN will ask you about in/out connections and you can make changes. It's very light on resources and I've really liked its ease.

    Thanks.
What I've done that might not be secure : in advanced settings, delete all the inbound and outbound rules, then re-open program and allow them.

I think that's one of the best way of using the firewall in fact, so you know EXACTLY what's going on (of course, once you know how to use a firewall ), and get rid of the many built-in rules that only reduce security, allowing what you know only.
There is one gotcha with that, however, Windows has a bug that, once you blow up the firewall configuration, it no longer allows you to share folders: Fix: Cannot Share Folder. There is an explanation of this totally unrelated problem and its solution, just in case you run into it.

Hello trogne. Windows Firewall never works for me as well, so I always use party firewall and turned off that Windows one completely.
