    Question about PUM.HIJACK.HO

    Anybody know about this? Malware bytes found it and deleted it and a scan came up clean, the next day it's back.

    Not sure what to do

    What software or an unknown e-mail have you downloaded recently that might have had PUM attached to it?
    The other tip is to go back to when that wasn't occurring and do a Restore to your PC.

    PUM means "Potentially Unwanted Malware".

    You've downloaded something that may be adware or malware.

    Please download DDS from one of these links (so we can see what this 'hijack' is related to):
    DDS.com
    DDS.pif
    • Disable any script blocking protection
    • Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
    • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
      1. DDS.txt
      2. Attach.txt <--- will be minimized in the task tray
    • Save both reports to your desktop.

    Include the contents of both logs in your next post.
    The scan will instruct you to post Attach.txt as an attachment.

    herbc,

    Malwarebytes produces a log that is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab.

    Could you also post the contents of the log which reports the PUM.HIJACK.HO?

    Thanks!!

    Looks like herbc is dealing with: PUM.Hijack.HomePageControl (Potentially Unwanted Modification)

    Registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel
    "HomePage"=dword:00000001

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel]
    "Homepage"=dword:00000001

    Malware can use these entries to lock in a malicious home page.

    Not good to get help from two places at the same time...

    Apparently a trait of distrust. The OP also has at least three AVs running and several blockers.

    Overlapped AVs usually don't work well. Besides being load on the PC, they interfere with each other.

    Distrust , no, lack of confidence YES, i had given Bleeping computer tons and tons of time trying to handle my issue and i am thoroughly disgusted with the help or lack there of. I even sent admin a message saying how disgusted i was .

    My topic started on April 4th and i started asking you for help a week ago, so not really a two help situation in my eyes.

    I switch when i feel one isn't helping or just doesn't care as i'm sure anyone would if taking their car for service and after a month they still couldn't help.

    If i wanted help from two different places i would change names and passwords and the topic title would need to be changed. Herbman and herbc is pretty obvious i would think.

    I want to see who can actually get the job done, i had only submitted DDS logs to both, lets see who can help. I pretty much have given up on Bleeping so i'll see what Seven forums could do.
