Hi there, try the below suggestion from Symantec. See if it helps you to register Norton.

    1. Click the Start button, and then click All Programs > Accessories > Run.
    2. In the Run dialog box, type the following text:
    Code:
    regsvr32 /u WMIUTILS.DLL
    3. Click OK.
    4. Restart the computer.
    5. Click the Start button, and then click All Programs > Accessories > Run.
    6. In the Run dialog box, type the following text:
    Code:
    regsvr32 WMIUTILS.DLL
    7. Click OK.
    8. Restart the computer.

    Response to Dinesh

    Thank you Dinesh:

Before I do this I want to confirm that your response applies to Windows 7 since I see that you are a Windows 8 expert.

Secondly, should I enter everything just as I see it in your typing with a space after 32 as well as after the "u"

It may sound silly but I do not want to mess this up due to my limited tech knowledge.

    Thank you,

    Ana

    About the Downloads

    Danish,

I forgot to ask if I should Download the Windows Repair Tool that is included at the end after the 2 steps mentioned in your response. There are 2 Downloads in your response one at the beginning in blue and one at the end in Green. Please clarify if I need to use both, one or none after doing the other 2 steps.

    Thank you,

    Ana

About the Recognition of the AV

    Dinesh (sorry for the misspelling)

I followed the instructions and then ran a new Diagnostic Report. The warning about the Missing Events was gone, but I still show the one of not recording any anti-virus. When I go to the security section in the control panel it shows only Norton 360. WD is turned off. I do not know what they mean by "configure Security Center to stop monitoring anti-virus status". Thank you, AG

May I please ask what Diagnostic Report you're referring to & where I can find it? I'm trying to iron out some problems of my own.

    Thank you.

It is named: System Health Report. I went to: Control Panel / System & Security / Action Center / then on the left side at the bottom I went to View Performance Information / then again to the last ítem "Advanced Tools" and then the last icon that reads "Generate System Health Report". Ana

Thanks Ana, will give it a try. Although most of my problems deal with lots & lots of Errors & Warnings in Event Viewer.

    About Event Errors

grits, I had hundreds actually thousands of errors and I believe that they were related to insufficient memory in my older laptop. I thought I had the máximum but then found out that I can still add one more GB which I just ordered. I think that the memory is going to solve my problem at least as far as that issue, now I still have the one of the anti virus not been recognized. Good luck, Ana
