You're very welcome for the help . How's the PC running is the IE still giving you that issue ?
I have the IE turned off. The PC runs well i think but when i do a search on that" PUM Hijack Ho" thing , most say that their PC's run fine despite it , so i don't know.
The PUM Hijack Ho thing may lay dormant until some event triggers it again. Try this Windows Defender Offline it's been used by 1000's without any problems and runs before w7 starts.
This is another good choice.

in rescue mode; in bit defefender scan all devices i.e hd0, hd1, hd2, any usb devices...etc then restart do a full system scan (select every device) then do it all again again.
Glad to help, herbc.
Something came to mind...please do the following:
Download HijackThis: Downloading HijackThis
Save to the Desktop.
Right-click and select: Run as Administrator
Accept the License Agreement if you decide to run the program.
When the HijackThis console opens, press the following button: Do A system scan and save a logfile
When done scanning, a log opens in Notepad, and also appears on your Desktop.
>>Please post the HijackThis log in your reply.<<
Hi guys, well i had to remove Bit Defender because the Firewall rules was to confusing so i installed regular Bit defender free anti virus and i just found out that house no real time protection.
That PUM Hijack Ho is still there. I do have a question though, when i reinstall off the iso disk i follow the steps and when it's done installing windows i insert the thumb drive and install the driver to get online.
Now for the first time i clicked on the files on that iso disk and noticed it has setup options etc.., do i need to mess with those? because it seems windows installs itself and all i have to do is add drivers.
I tried rescue mode in Bit Defender but it didn't work because when you click it you need to be online and i can't get online after i click rescue, i need to manually get online but it doesn't allow me to do it.
I will do the Hijack this and post the results.
herbc,
Once again, please run HijackThis, and Scan
Check the box to the left of the following entry:
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
Select: Fix checked
Close out of HijackThis.
Now, run Malwarebytes once again (Quick Scan), and see if you get the same entry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel]
PUM.Hijack.HomePageControl
When done with MBAM, please give us an update.
