    Registry ACL virus aftermath


    I have been comming across a more computers with corrupted registry ACL entries that refuse Administrator edits to the rights. I have had to take ownership of the entry, then change the SYSTEM and ADMINISTRATOR rights to "Full Control" to correct them. There seems to be alot of TRUSTEDINSTALLER entries associated with the problems. I have tried to use SubInAcl to reset rights but it hits many many "fails". I'm searching for another utility that would allow you to search for particular users in the ACL to locate problems and correct them.

    Any suggestions from y'all?

    What are you doing?! Those Registry keys are suppose to be restrictive even to Administrator users! TrustedInstaller is suppose to be there. Those ACLs were NOT corrupted...

    Check if the TrustedInstaller.exe file is being used by the wrong applications ... what are the errors?
    What virus(es) are you coming across?

    How do I restore Security Settings -> How do I restore security settings to a known working state?
