Hello!

How can I block a program from accessing the internet using the Windows 7 Firewall?

I set the inbound and outbound rule for the Firefox, just to test it, but it doesn't work right. If I try to search for something in Google it says that conenction is not avilable, but if I click on any of my bookmarks it takes me to the desired site - even if the inbound and outbound rule is set to block anything firefox.exe related.

What is the problem, why isn't the Win7 Firewall working as it should?

Check the details of the rule settings. What is the executable full path? Does it match Firefox .exe? Are protocols and ports limited in any way? For a browser, you should block at least port 80 and 443. For your test case, only outbound connections seems to be important, inbound are irrelevant for a web browser.
The ideal setting, however, is to block everything by default and only allow specific programs, though.

Hi! I only added Firefox.exe as a program, inbond and outbound. As I said, the searching in Google is now disabled but if I click on a bookmark it opens as if I didn't block it.

Verify if the blocking occurs form HTTP or HTTPS protocols, as they use different ports (80 and 443) and may be blocked or allowed independently.
Another thing to check could be if there is another rule conflicting with the one of yours. I don't really know how it deals or what takes precedence over what when there are rules clashing with each other. As a test, try to disable every rule, and keep only that of yours. See if it's effectively blocked/allowed. Remember to reenable afterwards.

I googled my problem and found out that the problem is in the incompatibility of the Windows 7 Firewall with my Avast anti-virus. Thank you for your help anyway. :)
