Microsoft Security Essentials randomly turning itself off

    The computer crashed again while doing the scan. 0xf4 code. It says it is collecting data for the crash dump.

    Open up a new thread in the BSOD section. The F4 bsod I believe are hard drive related . Did it create any dump files this time?

    My .02/broken record/PSA on the subject:

    MSE is not a good enough anti-virus solution on it's own, I don't recommend it to anyone for that purpose.

    avtest.org will enlighten you on the major products available, MSE is rated dead last overall.
