What I did exactly was :
    1. Right clicked on Atheros under Network Adapters in Device Manager
    2. Selected "Update driver"
    3. Manually pointed to the folder which had the atheros driver mentioned in post 38

It almost updated the driver but at the last moment gave the attached error in post 39

    Cheers!!

I'm not kidding you . Those are the drivers for your machine . Its either your hardware isn't working or you not installing it right .

I never seen a virus remove drivers . When was the last time you had Internet access meaning your device manager was clean no yellow circles ?

Even I know that the those are the only drivers applicable for my machine since I too checked it using the
service tag. And had the h/w not being working properly, then how come I'm using internet on the same laptop
    using ubuntu!!

Can you tell me the correct way to install drivers.

My internet access was fine few days back but I'm not sure what action of mine did this damage.

Of what I remember, I did a flash update but even after that the internet was working fine.

Then I downloaded a movie from bittorent using utorrent then when I re-started the laptop this problem occured,
so I'm just guessing that it must be due to some virus though I'm not sure.

Now let me know the next thing or else admit that you are at the end of your wits.

Sorry for being rude but I was not getting genuine resolution which I expected from sevenforums.

Downloading a movie using BitTorrent is illegal . I believe that is against the rules in this forum .

    Once again from dells website

    Driver Details | Dell US

    Click Download File

    Choose Single-file download

Right click the .exe file and choose run as administrator
