Jacee- Thank you for help. I notice Conduit was on there too. After reading about it in another thread. I don't think my friend does much with music or games but likes photos on picasa etc.

Curious about R3 (no file) & O23 (file missing)
getting rid of Norton and McAfee files because they were replaced with Zone Alarm (now replaced by MS Firewall) and Avast AV.

thanks derekimo- guess I'm getting antsie. My friend brought his tower over so while I'm cleaning his, my tower is inoperable because the cord, mouse, keyboard and internet are hooked up to his.

Yeah, that can be a hassle switching back and forth, I have an old CRT monitor and extra keyboard & mouse so I don't have to switch back and forth.

They'll be with you as soon as they log in.

You can rescan with HJT, put a check next to:
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {91da5e8a-3318-4f8c-b67e-5964de3ab546} - (no file)

Close all windows (including your browser), click fix checked and reboot.

Next, download TFC by Old Timer TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer - Geeks to Go Forums and save it to your desktop.
Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!
Double-click on TFC.exe to run it. If you are using Vista/Windows 7 right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.
Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Important! If TFC prompts you to reboot, please do so immediately. If not prompted, manually reboot the machine anyway to ensure a complete clean.

After doing that, Fix the add-on settings in Chrome:
Click the 3 horizontal lines in the right corner icon on browser toolbar
    Select Settings
    Select Basics ->Manage Search engines
Remove unnecessary search engines from list
Go back to settings. On Startup choose open blank page ( you can remove undesired pages from the set pages link too).

This computer should be ready to download and install SP1.

    Something was calling for wlsidnet.dll
Apparently it was one of the items targeted by AdwCleaner.

After running AdwCleaner, it is a good idea to run HJT. Some of the entries will no longer be there.

The R3 item you are concerned about belonged to the ZoneAlarm Security Toolbar. Looks like you uninstalled ZoneAlarm, so, it is a remnant.

The O23 (file missing) items are a result of the system being 64-bit. HJT plays better with 32-bit systems.

    Let's press on...

Please run HijackThis, Scan, check box for the following:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {91da5e8a-3318-4f8c-b67e-5964de3ab546} - (no file)

    Select: Fix checked

    Close the program.

Next, download the Temporary File Cleaner (TFC)
    http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/TFC.exe
    Save to your Desktop.
    • Save any work in progress!! TFC closes open applications and removes unsaved work!!
    • Close all windows.
    • Right-click TFC.exe and select: Run as Administrator
    • If prompted, click Yes to reboot.

Right after, please Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Download
    Save to the Desktop
Double-click the downloaded MBAM file to run it.

When the installation begins, follow the prompts in the setup process.
DO NOT make any changes to default settings, and when the program has finished installing, make sure only the following options are checked:
    >Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
    >Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
    Uncheck:
    >Enable free trial of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO

    Click on the Finish button.

If an update is found, the program automatically updates itself.
At the program console, on the Scanner tab, and select: Perform Quick Scan

Next, click on the Scan button.

When the Malwarebytes scan is completed, click on: Show Results

When presented with a screen showing the malware detected, make sure everything is Checked, and click on: Remove Selected

When removal is completed, a report opens in Notepad.
Please copy/paste the entire contents of the MBAM report in your reply.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you are asked to reboot the computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) prevents MBAM from removing all the malware.

Last, let’s check your Security status with the following...

    Download Security Check:
    http://screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/
    Save to your Desktop.

    Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
Follow the onscreen instructions inside the black box.

When done, a Notepad report opens automatically, called: checkup.txt

Please post the checkup.txt in your reply.

If the program does not run in normal Windows, please run in Safe Mode.
(Please do not take any corrective actions!)
