3 issues producing a 'has stopped working' error message - resubmitted

    Hi,

I receive some variation on the same error message when trying to perform three different tasks. Here is a screenshot of one of the versions:

This one turns up when I attempt to uninstall certain programs, such as Delta Toolbar. Following a removal guide such as Remove Delta Toolbar (Removal Guide) doesn't work, because I can't complete the first step: the above error-message pops up instead. Possibly connected to this is an inability to uninstall AVG Security Toolbar - it doesn't prompt an error message, but nothing happens.

I get a similar error message when trying to open Internet Explorer:

Lastly, the same happens when I try to open Skype:

I have made sure that I have the latest updates and ran antivirus scans and Windows Defender, but the problems persist. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Euter mate try running a sfc and chkdsk for starters and then run Revo uninstaller for that wretched toolbar stuff - it is a bit more thorough than the Windows feature.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Disk Check

Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems if that doesn't get rid of it post back.

Hi ICit2lol - thanks for your post. Followed your suggestions, but still get the same error messages - in this case 'Uninstaller Application Has Stopped Working'.

A new development is that this is now happening with Steam. Tried to play Civ V, bought through Steam, and it failed to open, producing 'Steam Has Stopped Working' error message. This seems to be quite a serious problem ... any more input/suggestions/advice very much appreciated.

Let's try AdwCleaner .... download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
    • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
    • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open in Notepad for review.
    • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
    • Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
    • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

Using AdwCleaner v3: Scan & Clean:
Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool again.
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin to scan your computer like it did before.
    • After the scan has finished...
    • This time, click on the Clean button.
    • Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
    • Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.
    • After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S0].txt) will open automatically.
    • Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
    • A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.

Yes Jacee I was going to come onto that as well - one of my favourites:) I was going to wait for the SFC and chkdsk first but you beat me to it as I have only just got up.
But worth running these too I reckon
