The user must download a lot of crap from the JRT log. He need to be very careful about unwanted payloads and not be willy-nilly about "oh this looks useful" programs.
Running Adwcleaner would be a good next step to check the machine.
Yeah just a tip you could pass on, when he installs programs, whatever they may be, make sure he clicks on the "custom install" as clicking on "express" could allow several unwanted goodies to be installed.
Ok I've run Adwcleaner and found pretty much nothing. Webroot hasn't found anything either. The user no longer has admin rights so no downloading programs they shouldn't.
This machine is clean.
Thanks everyone for your help.
You need to uninstall AdwCleaner ... the developer is constantly adding to it's definitions, so an 'old' version will not detect any new adware.
Removing/Uninstalling AdwCleaner:
Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool again.?Click on the Uninstall button.
Click Yes when asked are you sure you want to uninstall.
Both AdwCleaner.exe, its folder and all logs will be removed.
After doing that, download TFC by Old Timer TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer - Geeks to Go Forums and save it to your desktop.
Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!
Double-click on TFC.exe to run it. If you are using Vista/Windows 7 right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.
Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Important! If TFC prompts you to reboot, please do so immediately. If not prompted, manually reboot the machine anyway to ensure a complete clean.
TFC is an application that you want to keep and use!!
When i click on Adwcleaner, it tells me theres a new update, so it just links me to their website and it instals over the top of the old version, im assuming its safe to do so yeah?
