Windows 7: AVG Crashed but now working

AVG Crashed but now working

I was using my computer and decided to do a whole computer scan because you could never be too safe. I was idle for a few minutes and then came back and I saw that it was done scanning. I tried to open the avg user interface via right clicking the avg icon in the notification tray. it did not open so then I tried with the shortcjt and then from the start menu. I tried to open it once again through the tray icon but it froze and windows said the avg user interface is not responding so I closed the program anyway even though it said I may lose data. but I doubt I would lose data since the scan ended. but it closed but the right click menu stayed so I tried to open avg again. still not working. so I tried closing avg from the processes on task manager and it said access denied. I think avg does not give me permissions to do that. so I loged off and back on and avg would now open. I did a scan and no threats were detected.
So long story short: Should I be worried about AVG crashing?
Also, how come scheduled scans scan more items than whole computer scans?
Like my sig says, it is better safe than sorry!

I don't use AVG myself but here are my thoughts.

You could opt to "repair reinstall" AVG just to be on the safe side. Usually it's a case of running the AVG set up file again and hopefully you'll see options to "remove, change or repair" the installation. If these options exist - choose the repair option.

As for scans and what they actually scan - there are usually options to configure what's included in each type of scan. I'd suggest that your scheduled scan has been configured in a different way to your whole computer scan.

If it crashes again after repair it would indicate that there are other problems that need looking into.
