How to stop various antivirus from running

I have avg and avira and malware bytes running in the background. Is there a way I can make them only run wen I want to or do I have to uninstall them?

I wonder why you want to shut them off. Are they slowing your system?
If so, just keep one and uninstall the other two.

You don't need both Avira and Avg. Uninstall one of them. It is best to have one of them running in the background all of the time. Malwarebytes can be run every week. There should be a schedule to set when they run.

Never run more than one anti virus program on one computer at one time. They see each other and argue. Many times the will fight each other until you get a BSOD. Both running at the same time will surly slow your computer a lot. Their is also a good chance with both at the same time you are less protected.

I would choose Avria over AVG.

Should MalWare Bytes be discarded too ,just leaving Avira and nothing else? I just found that I have Avast too.
Should I keep Avast or Avira? I'm guessing Avira because last time I had Avast I could not stop all the popups on the lower right hand corner for the life of me even after I asked people at the Avast forums how to stop the popups.

First I would keep Malwarebytes Anti Malware. It is not a anti virus program. It is a anti malware program. They are different.

I have not used Avast or Avira. By what I read they are boot good.
What ever anti virus you remove please use their removal tool found on line to do the job correctly.

LB is right. Here are the removal tools. AV Uninstallers

And regarding MBAM - use it for scanning only and when it is done, stop it (from the task tray).

I would just run AVG. It's been trouble-free for us for years. Avira was a resource hog and missed things that AVG trapped.

In any case MalwareBytes is redundant.
