    Instant Savings App

I have been trying to remove the "Instant Savings App" from my Chrome Browser Extensions with a tremendous amount of difficulty, and without success.

I have uninstalled it via the windows7 Programs and features tab, removed a duplicate copy from Chrome Extensions (how I got a duplicate copy I do not know), removed from Firefox (which I have reverted back to) but have not used this for at least 12 months, searched with what I know from the registry, checked through the various folders for the program, installed the latest Malwarebytes program and ran a full scan, removed whatever file that was recommended, ran CCleaner and Junkware Removal Tool utility.

OK, so this is what I have got: I found that I could NOT remove the duplicated Instant Savings App from the extensions in Google Chrome. There is NO Rubbish Bin icon to do this. I discovered also the app showed it was managed by a company and could not be removed! I sent a message to Google but I do not expect to get a reply, something I'm afraid they are not good at.

What pissed me off was whenever I did a search with Google search, as I read down all of a sudden this App would appear at the top of the page displaying say three further options a prices??? and push the remaining options I was reading down the page. Bloody annoying, and I really have no idea how the App got there in the first place, or when.

I have since uninstalled Chrome, then re-installed it but no, the damb thing is still there. I have uninstalled it again in discussed and switched Back to Firefox.

Has anyone else had this experience and if so, how did you overcome the problem above? I notice that there is no support forum at Google, or have I missed something?

    Thank you in advance.

Type chrome://extensions in the address bar.

This will open a page showing all the installed extensions - is this one listed there? If so, is there an uninstall option? If yes, try removing it that way for a start.

Thank you maxie, I am familiar with that link but had not installed Hitman Pro. I have done this since with nil results. What I did find was that the DOS program JRT did not work, maybe SE virus program or firewall prevented that. I have uninstalled Chrome prior to Hitman Pro for the third time and will reboot and try Chrome again to see what happens.

I appreciate your help, thank you

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
    • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
    • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
    • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
    • Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
    • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

Using AdwCleaner v3: Scan & Clean:
Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool again.
    Click on the Scan button.
AdwCleaner will begin to scan your computer like it did before.
    After the scan has finished...

This time click on the Clean button.
Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.
After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S#].txt) will open automatically (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder

Thank you Jacee, I did backup, ran AWDCleaner, obtained the report and saved it. As I was browsing I hit the clean by mistake ($hit happens), the system rebooted and provided a report. Things appear to be operating OK but I have not reinstalled Chrome yet. Now, do you want me to copy and paste here?
