Avira and Windows 7, now in trouble

I have used Avira free for some time, but after the last install of Windows 7, I'm in troubble.
Avira installs fine, but it can't update Virusdatabase. It seems like it don't connect at all, transfering 0 bytes, and after about 15-20 minutes break off with an error (and no update). The error just saying something like "can't be updated at the moment. Please try later".
Well, that has lasted over 2 days now, and earlier today I updated Avira on my laptop (XP) with no problems.

I have redownloaded Avira, installed it, uninstalled it, installed it again (from a third download!), but still it can't update.
Avast, AVG and trial Kaspersky updating without problems.

    Any ideas?

May I first ask why (and I mean this in the best possible manner...) do you have 4 different Anti-Virus? Anti-Virus apps normally conflict with each other in some way (whether they tell you or not). It is very reccomended to only use one Anti-Virus app at a time

Its a sign, dump all but one Anti-Virus. As Zidane mentioned, it is not recommended to have more then one installed on the same machine. :S

For me, Avira does not work at all on RTM x86, 7600 build. It installs, but then reports that antivirus driver is not compatible (or something like that) and it wont start the AV service. Well, back to Panda IS...

My English is not good enough. I have of course only 1 virus-killer installed at the time. As written in #0, this is a new install of Windows 7 x64, and after Avira did not work, I tried some other virus-killers (one by one!), and after them, I tried Avira again, but Avira won't update. From time to time during severel tries, it downloads 1-10 Kbyte, but then stops again. I'm using Windows 7 other security, Firewall, Windows Defender aso. I really like Avira, as it is fast, and does not take up much space. Maybe I should try Microsofts own new Virus-killer?

#6 Yes, that is working, but do I really have to do this by myself from now on?

I don't know if you'll have to do this from now on

I see you have an RC version of Windows 7 ... what is the 'build' number? You have it listed as RC 1

may i suggest that you take a good look at your own first post above ?
    "...last install of Windows 7..."

it has *NO* info about what W7-version you are using...
