Need Some Assistance With dllhost.exe Running Wild

There's about 40 instances of this in a system's processes list, COM surrogate to blame/associated.

What other information may I provide you for your ability to help me troubleshoot this?

    Thank you very much.

What antivirus software are you using? (You can put that info in your system specs.)

BTW, you should make a post in your other thread too:

Run an AV and anti-malware scan on the system. Post back if you need more info on products to use for scanning.

The dllhost.exe is a very generic process that can run all kinds of services (.dlls). You have to check which actual services are running under those dllhost.exes. Best is to use Process Explorer for that. Hover over the dllhost.exes. That gives you a first view. A right click on it and then Properties gives you more details.

Btw - it is not unusual to have many dllhost.exes running, but 40 is a lot.

My system specs will change constantly, I'm in a repair shop. But it's got MSE installed.

I've already removed all malware and PUPs from the system, so I don't need to run a scan. This dllhost.exe process is the last problem.

I don't think it's a 'problem'. You just have to analyse it to understand what's going on.

I understand about the specs changing - thx for the info.

If you opt to use Process Explorer, please see this post:
    Process Explorer 16

The lower pane can help you know what DLLs are being loaded by the dllhost exe. I've never seen a system with that many instances of running. But, like others have said, it might not be a problem; there might just be a lot of stuff running. Perhaps the vender customized a bunch of stuff.
