Unable to view images in FastStone, Picasa or Irfanview

After updating FastStone Image Viewer, I'm unable to view most of my images. (I have access to images saved after the problem arose.) In FastStone's thumbnail view, a red cross appears where the photo is/was and when I highlight the thumbnail I see the name of the image and its original size.

The same happens if I try to view the images (via the containing folder) in Picasa or Irfanview, but MS Paint opens the image without problem. I've un installed and updated all the image viewers, and changed the default program for images between various image viewer programs.

However, if I move or copy the images to another file or the desktop I’m able to view them without problem in all of the viewers. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Hi,
Hope you don't mind a slight side road here but I'm curious on what this scanner finds,
    Post the scan results,
Review Jacee’s instructions to run Adwcleaner here on post#7,
Ignore the title of the thread,

Howdy, thanks for responding so quickly. I ran Adwcleaner, and have attached the results. Unfortunately, there has not been any change with the original problem.AdwCleaner[S0].txt

I followed all the steps, and yet was still unable to access my image files. A workaround was to move all image files to the desktop and then onto new locations. (Moving them back to their original location resulted in the same problem again.) Thank you for time and assistance, I appreciate it greatly. :)

    Hi thanks for the update,
I still believe you might have a couple of bugs,
    Please use the other scanners,
Also please do not download from Softonic anymore if you want Picasa get it from Google,
Softonic has allot of adware as you can see
If you make a New folder then move the files into it does the issue return ?
    Cheers.

Ran both Malwarebytes (which I have on my system) and superantispyware, the latter found adware tracking cookies which I deleted. I also reset the browsers as instructed. Moving images to new file locations worked, moving them back resulted in the same problem recurring. I'm scanning with the latest Panda Cloud AntiVirus as I experienced a similar problem with my ebook folder. I moved the ebooks to another location and the problem was resolved. It's disconcerting not knowing the cause, but I'm just happy I have access to my images and ebooks again. G'night and thanks again.:)

    Cheers.
