Use Unchecky to deselect installation of Adware with other software

Many people download software from download sites like C|net, Softonic and related websites. Those websites often bundle Free Toolbars and other Adware with their installer software. Adware companies often pay these download sites to bundle their software with the installers so that they can get as many of their toolbars installed on computers as they can. This often leads to inexperienced and innocent users who press the 'Next' button on the installers without looking what else is being installed being affected by Adware and have Ads displayed, get rather useless toolbars and other unnecessary stuff which makes the computer and internet experience slow. Also, many of the adware installed can act as spyware which can make them dangerous in some cases too.

Several of us, including me, have been using it for quite some time. It works quite well for downloaded installers. Online installers, such as used for adobe flash, are another story. I haven't had any problems with compatibility.

Thanks for the Feedback Jamie and Jeannie. I stumbled upon this little piece of useful software and thought I'd provide it for the users of SevenForums here who are affected by adware and to prevent them from further installing them. I don't know if it is in the right section. Admins, maybe move this to tutorials?

Actually, this thread would be the appropriate place to post this. Why don't you PM Brink and ask him to add Unchecky to the list? Reference this thread when you do.

I also want to add that unchecky updates automatically and runs as a system level service. It also uses the host file to block very bad and known distributors of malware.
