The mabm links will take you to where you can use the mabm clean utility,
Download it to your desktop and right click it and run as administrator,
It should remove all entries of prior installs,
Then just download a fresh copy,
You will need to Uncheck the Activate the trail version box,
And you should have the free version which you can manually activate with an existing product # and activation key,
    Cheers.

This is what happens when I click MBAM links. Please note the show bar at the bottom. Downloading options are OPEN, SAVE and CANCEL

Option OPEN does not do anything. Option SAVE downloads to Downloads folder....but downloaded file cannot be opened, thus cannot be installed.

Please be aware these options are new, they replaced the older tandem options of RUN and SAVE.

    Hi,
I already gave you download instructions,
And instructions on how to enter "safe mode with networking" to download Adwcleaner to remove the infection,
Return to your thread and post the scan results,
    Cheers.

I don't use IE much, but I was curious about this.
IE 11 shows the Run option for the mbam-clean.exe file for me.
Click the down arrow and see if you have Save as and Save and run choices. (maybe they will help)
I think what is displayed in that message bar changes depending on filetype, and ...
I think what is displayed for you is not working correctly.

With what you have done with MBAM and Restore Points, I'm not sure what is best to suggest ...

You could try a System File Check
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If that doesn't help, you could try creating a new Windows User account and see if that account has the same issue.
    User Account - Create

If you have another PC, you could download the mbam-clean.exe from there and save it to a flash drive.
Then install it from the flash drive on your PC and see if it will clean things up.

I just installed MBAM 2 thanks to thrashzone advice. (see his posts #11 & 13, and my post #12) carried out in Safe mode with networking.

I also have successfully installed Microsoft safety scanner, also in safe mode. I have run MSE, MBAM and Safety scanner scans and came up dry...no malware.

"Click the down arrow and see if you have Save as and Save and run choices.(maybe they will help)"

In regular mode(NOT safe mode) the RUN option is not shown by the down arrow...only OPEN and SAVE

So I still do not know why the RUN option appears only in safe mode.

Today I have run sfc /scannow three times and chkdsk twice.

BTW, I am a bit uncomfy getting online (to install programs) in safe mode because MSE realtime protection does not work in safe mode.

OK, so things look good for you if you boot Windows in Safe More, right?

Then I would try a Clean Startup and see how things work.

I also ran adwcleaner(again, only from safe mode) and this was the result of scan:

I really pray(to Pope Francis)that I need not have to go through that tedious process of clean startup. I'd really rather just buy a new notebook.

See if the results are clean if not post those result for review,
    Great job sir
If all is good with the scan Reset Internet explorer,
See a tutorial here to Reset Internet explorer,
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1222-internet-explorer-reset.html
    After Resetting ie9 or 10,

I did reset IE 11 yesterday...to no avail.

I just ran adwcleaner again and the result is clean. (Yep. I had to download/install it again in safe mode)
