This is in your FRST report ---> C:\users\Temp.Ian-PC.003

    C:\Users\Temp
means that a user has been logged on with a temporary profile. Generally, this means the user's real profile is missing or corrupted.
You can determine whether the folder contains a profile by examining its contents. If you see directories named Desktop, Documents, Pictures, etc., then it is a profile directory.

    Internet accessible no browser working

Sorry but I do not understand your temporarily registered comment. Has there been an error and do you want me to resend my last transmission with the four file attachments of the runs you suggested?

No need to resend any reports. You are OK.

Jacee is just querying about the presence of the file:

This is in your FRST report ---> C:\users\Temp.Ian-PC.003
    Although the reports submitted show:

Ran by Ian (administrator) on IAN-PC on....
    Running from C:\Users\Ian\Desktop

Have you received any error message stating: Default Profile could not be loaded?

    Haggis23,

Consulted with the developer of FRST on the results you provided, and we need to do some purging of files with Unicode characters, some programs, tasks, etc., and bring things back to normal.

Will be preparing a fix later on today, and will get back here this evening to post it so you can use it.
Dealing with those 'strange' files in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 has to be done in a certain way, otherwise it will not work.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Haggis23,

Let's approach your issues as follows...

In Windows 7, please go to Start > Control Panel > Programs (or Programs and Features)

Under Uninstall or Change a Program, select the following programs, one at a time, select Uninstall, and agree to the action:

    Advanced SystemCare 7
    IObit Malware Fighter
    IObit Apps Toolbar v6.6
    pdfforge Toolbar v4.4
    Spybot - Search & Destroy
    ZoneAlarm Free Firewall
    ZoneAlarm Security Toolbar

Now, please open Notepad (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad)
Copy the entire contents of the code box below (Do not copy the word 'code') to Notepad.
Go to File > Save as...
Save it to the Desktop, and name it: fixlist.txt

    Code:
    start
    C:\Program Files (x86)\IObit\Advanced SystemCare 7

You have the other attachment but something went wrong with the supporting text.
IObit apps toolbar v6.6 and pdforge toolbar v4.4 would not uninstall. The error message was "Error 1316 A network error" for both.
The IE browser only respond momentarily and the Firefox browser timed out with the attached message
I have the files and can post again if you wish?

    Haggis23,

Is it possible for you to use Internet Explorer, or Chrome?

Still have some files with Unicode characters showing...

Once again, please remove the previous fixlist.txt from your Desktop.

Download >> attached << fixlist.txt (at the bottom of this post) and save it to the Desktop.
Now, please run FRST, and press the Fix button, just once, and wait.

When done, the tool creates a report on the Desktop called: Fixlog.txt
Please, post the new Fixlog.txt in your reply.

    Also download MiniToolBox
    Save to the Desktop
Double-click the dowloaded file to run it.

At the program console, please check the following:
    • Report IE Proxy Settings
    • Report FF Proxy Settings
    • List IP configuration
    • List Winsock Entries
    Click: Go

Please post the Result.txt in your reply.

Thank you for you continued interest in my problem computer. I have performed the tests you asked for and attach the results.
Two comments which may be useful are that
    1) The machine is much cleaner now and boots up and shuts down much faster
    2) Although I can get no web page in Windows 7 from any browser. including Firefox and my portable apps versions of Chrome and Maxthon. (I get the "server unreachable" message I have posted.) I can, however, get web pages from all these browsers in Safe Mode with Networking. IE doesn't want to know at all and just shuts down on access. The other browsers open a dialog box in Windows 7. I would rather not access the internet by the Safe Mode method because I have removed my firewall. I was advised to uninstall Chrome and don't know of a Zip version to replace it.
    Thank you for your efforts.
