Stuck in an encryption/unecryption cycle :(

I was/am curious about Windows encryption so I chose a 1Tb folder and ticked "Encrypt"....

I thought it would take a few minutes or, worse case, a couple of hours - tops. :)

    2 hours came and went....

I couldn't stop it in limbo so I let it run to conclusion. About 20 hours later it stopped

I thought it was neat that no other account (User) could access the files in the encrypted folder but I soon got bored with the exercise so started the decryption phase. Expecting to run as long I went to sleep for the night. ( know! I know! I shouldn't "play" with "live" data. I should have used a "test" folder....)

In the early hours Windows Update downloaded and applied an "Important" update and rebooted the system The decrypt/encrypt cycle was BROKEN

The folder is now NOT flagged "Encrypted" and I can access some but not all the files.

I can't "decrypt" them as they are NOT flagged "Encrypted".

Any bright ideas how to find which files are which without trying to access each and every one?

Any ideas how to decrypt the still encrypted files?

To answer my own question (for anyone else in the same boat)....

Work out the files that are still encrypted by looking at Properties/Advanced.

Multi select the files still encrypted and do a Properties. This will show something like 712 files selected....

Then go to Advanced and untick the "Encrypted" box then okay then back in the Properties page click "Apply".....

This will decrypt the remaining files.

    QED.
