    MCAfee LiveSafe vs AVAST Free

I have just got a new PC that came with 12 months of McAfee LiveSafe. Is it worth it to uninstall it and download AVAST (it is a Win8.1 PC which means no MSE) or wait until it expires to download AVAST?

If you uninstalled McAfee LiveSafe, wouldn't you be using MSE by default - it is just called Windows Defender.

Or do I have that wrong?

Yes, but I'm saying that just to let you guys know it is Win8 not 7. I just think Avast would be better than MSE/Windows Defender. (my opinion)

Ok. I was just confused by that parenthetical statement:
(it is a Win8.1 PC which means no MSE)
I'll have to let others comment about McAfee vs, Avast on W8.

    Hi,
    Ouch,
Mcafee is the worst type of junkware a manufacture could inflict on a new machine
It's most likely installed on the system restore = factory state as well

Well I will wait for others' opinions since I remember whs saying it is worth it if it has enough resources. Getting a new computer $800-$1000

It might be worth it if the manufacture offers a re-install disk without any junkware included,
Otherwise Avast or anything else would be better,
    Cheers.

Wouldn't this question be better answered on the Win 8 forums?

Well, both antiviruses work with both Win7 and 8.
