Log on without password

Hi

A small problem and hopefully a small solution.

I have set up so windows automaticaly logs me on ie I don't have to type my password. This works fine when I boot up and it also works when waking from sleep.

The problem is when I press the log off button it goes to the log on screen and I have to type the password. Any answer?

Not a huge problem I grant you it's just annoying me

Of course that happens. What would be the point of logging off to begin with, then?

By design. Where else could it possibly go when you logoff?

I think there might be a setting in group policy to make the computer automatically login again at logoff. I remember seeing it somewhere before.

As you say obviously you end up at the log on screen, but if you actually read my question you will realise i just want to click the icon to log back and not have to type the password

Yeah, I understood. What I meant was, why logoff to begin with? Just leave the account running logged in, in this case.

Is there a technical reason you need or want to be logged out at times?

This is basic Windows logon security. When you log out and then click on your username, you'll have to reauthenticate using the password.

Occasionaly when applying changes and especially customisation changes you are requested to log off for changes to take effect, As I said at the begining this is no big thing I just thought there might be a simple solution.

Alright, now I understand your method of thinking. It wasn't making sense to me otherwise.

I was asking more out of curiosity than anything else. (I'm here to learn as well as help too.) Unfortunately, I'm unsure if there actually is a way to do what you want.

Never mind. It isn't important.

I should have mentioned I have only one user and that is the inbuilt administrator account

Once i have set up the machine to my liking it will probably be quite rare for me to log off.

TuneUp Utilities has a setting which will log-off than log-on without
having to enter a password and without having to click the log-on Icon,

It is very convenient on those occasions when a log-off is needed while a
full reboot is not.

I have not found this Tweak anywhere else, but it can be done. I would love to find the Tweak / reg entry which will do this without TuneUp.

If anybody knows, please post
