I'm marking this thread as solved but it's not solved. Computer locked up again last night. I think it could be adobe cs3 or just built in obsolescence with the latest updates to force me to upgrade. I'll do that other thing and report back anyway, but it looks like the same fate will befall my vaio as my mac, starts grinding and no matter what I do fix the problem it doesn't get any better. I don't buy into this theory that computers just start running slow. What's changed with what I do with it over the past 3 years? Videos, music, graphics art etc.. it's all the same stuff.

Software developers have really done a good job of scamming money out of people.

I restarted and not running photoshop, yet it took me two double clicks to open a 30MB panoramic just then and it still didn't open in windows viewers, it's just small malfunctions like this creeping in and being annoying, whereas before it was clicketty click and everything just worked instantly now it's a few seconds, or windows opening up really small and little constantly annoying things like that. It's not as bad as my OS 10.6 Macbook though, but for an intel 7 8 core machine I'd really expect a lot better than this, despite it being slightly out of date now.

Click on Services and stop, then set Bonjour to disabled.

Also try that with Knowhow Cloud\VSSService.exe, or set it to 'manual'.

To get to services .... type Services in the start search box, click on the 'gear' icon

    I don't have Bonjour. I can't see it anyway.

The path to "Bonjour" is listed here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe
