Firewall: Online Armor

Has anybody tried Online Armor? I have a few questions and comments.

1. How good is the free version of OA? Does it allow me to set permissions for outgoing connections? (Lots of my apps like to access the ineternet without telling me.) How good is it as a firewall?

2. Is there a way to install it on a 64-bit computer?

3. Comodo Firewall sucks! The last time I used it was over a year ago, and I could never find any way to set permissions for my apps.

I found out about some other ones. There is the PCTools firewall and the Privatefirewall. Both seem to be good products. I'll probably be going with PCTools. ZAP was the best firewall out there years ago before the company changed over to Checkpoint. After that it was terrible. It became a really bad resource hog. I'm hoping that PCTools or Privatefirewall are nice and light. I definitely want something that is strong on outgoing apps and processes like ZAP used to be. I want a notification asking me to allow/block even the slightest outgoing process.

I don't find ZA to be resorce hog so much. I have 2 GB DDR installed @ 52% now.

Currently,
zclient.exe = 1948 k
vsmon.exe = 34,640 k
ForceField.exe = 2532 k (I have this service disabled in services, but the app still makes this run anyhow)

I don't find this so bad. Integrated Kaspersky A/V is running too. And unless looking in task manager, system tray or investigating HDD, I'd never know it was running. Not bothersome at all.

I agree with you though about blocking outgoing apps and that's one of the strongest reasons I use. I just don't like the idea that when I open an app, the developer gets packets from me. Even if the app is freeware.

OK Thanks! The last time I used ZAP was years ago on XP, and it was causing some serious conflicts slowing EVERYTHING down. I'll try ZAP again before anything else mainly because I already know how good it is at recognizing every outbound attempt.

Is Online Armor free firewall still effective?
Hello. I decided to give Online Armor free firewall a chance and I really like it. Especially the HIPS. Anyway, I have version 7.0.0.1866, is this the most current? I find the Website confusing and want to be sure im not using some obsolete firewall. Thank you :) :geek:
