Firewall rules to prevent IP leak from sudden VPN disconnect?

Hello. I am using OpenVPN software and it's all setup and working. Seeing as im using a well known vpn program I was wondering if it was pretty straightforward to further secure the connection. Would anyone be able to direct me to a tutorial perhaps? or maybe I just need some specific firewall rules? Thanks for your help

Yes, as soon as you disconnect from VPN you will get back to your ISP, means your secure Internet surfing will have been compromised and you will carry on browsing as normal with your computer IP exposed for everyone to see. If by any chance it's you concern there are some ways to stop a VPN disconnection showing your computer IP.

For instance, using a software firewall you can tell it to allow applications to connect only through the VPN, including your browser, the only downside to this is that firewalls all have very different configuration settings and you will probably need to read the documentation or ask at some computing forum about how to bind the browser with your VPN connection.

The following visual tutorial might be helpful to configure firewall such that when VPN disconnects, all browsing stops:

    Hope it could help.
