Updated from windows 7 to 8.1, can't use bitlocker?

    Hi there

A while ago I updated my Windows 7 x64 to Windows 8.1. Now I wanted to encrypt it with bitlocker but I can't find a download for it on microsoft's website. Looking at their guides it seems like I'm supposed to have it on my computer already. When I search for bitlocker on my computer I have these two but nothing happens when I try to open them:
    Bitlockerdeviceencryption.exe
    bitlockerwizardelev.exe

I found a guide on here where I could type -manage-bde -status in cmd. When doing so I got this response:
    Configuration tool version 6.3.9600.
    But then it also says
    Bitlocker version: None

So it seems I may have some kind of bitlocker version on my computer. I can't find it in the control panel though.

Anyone have an idea what to do here?
    Thanks

What`s your purpose for using bitlocker, we see many people loose their password and of course their data.

Unless it`s a business laptop I wouldn`t even bother with Bitlocker

    8.1 Pro comes with bitlocker.

What's your Windows 8 Edition ? Bitlocker is only available on Pro and Enterprise...

DO you have Win 8 Pro or Enterprise? If you have standard Win 8 then it does not include Bitlocker.

Thanks for responding. I'm not sure what my version is. Is there any way for me to find it? Also can I buy the program if I don't have the right version?

Hit the Pause key and the Windows key at the same time. It should show you what operating system you are using.
