Permssions won't allow shortcut change to run Minimized?

I created a shortcut icon to taskmgr.exe and placed it in the proper Startup folder so it would run at start up.

It runs fine but I want to change the properties to run Minimized vs Normal Window so it will just appear minimized in the system notfication area on start up.

Permissions says I am not authorized and won't allow me to change the run mode even tho I am the Administrator and I've lowered the UAC setting all the way to Never Notify.

How can I fix this and change the shortcut to Minimized?

First I suggest you set UAC to maximum. Then try with Process Explorer instead of Task Manager. Here's a Tutorial that shows things you can't do with Task Manager: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...s-50-av-s.html

Process Explorer just like Task Manager default only shows your own processes. If you want to show all processes you need to start the program with elevated rights.

    Tookeri,

Thanks for the info on PE but I'm a little fuzzy as to how PE + VirusTotal relates to my specific problem of only changing the shortcut TM display to Minimized. I don't think I have a virus problem?

Also, is there a difference between Administrator Rights (which I have) and Elevated Rights which you mentioned?

Sorry, forgot to say that you can find the download link for PE in the Tutorial, and that the Tutorial also shows IMO how much better PE is than Task Manager. That's all. See the VirusTotal info in the Tutorial only as extra information but not related to your current issue.
Besides that I meant you could try and see if PE works better when started minimized.

If you have the default UAC settings, no program is started with administrator/elevated rights. If a program requires admin rights you'll get an UAC prompt first.

When you start Task Manager or PE it starts as standard user even though your Windows account is an Administrator. You won't be able to see all processes and all information until you launch it with admin rights. In Task Manager this is the button "Show processes from all users" (with the UAC shield on it). This is equal to right-clicking your shortcut to Task Manager and selecting "Run as administrator".

Hope I explained better now :)
