Why is windows defender always turned off?

    Why is windows defender always turned off?


    how can i get it to stay on and monitor my computer all the time?

    its always off...

    Go to Start>Search>services.msc>Windows Defender.

    Double click Windows defender and

    1: Set the Startup type to: Automatic(Delayed Start).
    2: Set Service Status to Started.

    hmm thank you very much for that. but i started it once i turned on my pc/windows for this session. the settinds i saw were already: Automatic (delayed start) & Started.

    My Defender is ALWAYS off now after I installed MS Security Essentials...

    Change the settings to Disable and Stop the service.
    Restart your pc.
    Revert the changes back to Automatic (delayed start) & Started.

    MSE will turn Defender off by default as it assumes the role of anti-malware for your system.... If you are running MSE, there is no need for Defender, and that is why it is disabled....

    i see, i got the same answer from other forums too..

    so can i uninstall defender if i have MSE running?

    Unless I was desperate for the disc space, I would just leave it alone...
