IO Advanced System Care - Denied any and all EXE files

I did a real foolish mistake, I installed IO Advanced System care free and didn't uncheck to do a registry clean, with that mistake I can't open any exe files, not a exe file like regedit nothing. I can boot into windows but all my icons, unless it's all connected are messed up, but some programs work, although not all, only a few, the important ones I need like restore point don't work. My guess is immediately a virus or malware, now I must remove any suggestion or a solution ?
    This is on a Windows7 box !

First and foremost, I don't recommend any IObit products, at all.

    Does system restore work?

If not, did this program give you an option to backup your registry and if so, did you make one?

Download and install Tweaking.com's Windows Repair (All in One). After CTL PNL Power Options [making sure monitor and harddrive does not time out, ie power off]: Perhaps darken monitor some [not too dark] to avoid any possibility of burn-in. Right click on the WR(AiO) to run as administrator. Within WR(Ai)): Check #01-04 - resets & register sys files. Check Repair File Associations [all of them]. Check also #26 & #27. It may take quite a while! Finally, you will be informed to restart. Hopefully this will fix the situation; else - you just might have to have a restorable image backup on hand.

Yep Advanced System Care has attack another computer.
If a repair install doesn't work their is always the option of a Clean Install.

A.S.C. is messing up more computers that McAfee did back in it's hay days.

My latest backup is a little old, not everything is lost, my desktop is fine, but all links to EXE files and short-cuts are corrupt. It doesn't allow me to open EXE files that is what extremely bothers me, without this ability how can I try options !

How can I make EXE files usable ? Everytime I try to run an EXE file it asks me what type of file I want to open it with ! All my icons in the taskbarare IO Advanced System Care icons, arghh. I can open ZIP files and view images, without problems.

The computer boots into Windows as normal, as well !

Yes it did, I uninstalled some of the program, but where did it put it, or is it gone ? I have restore points as I mentioned but I can't access to restore too, for all I know that may fix everything instantly.

See if merging the .exe reg file from here,

Default File Type Associations - Restore

Helps you get back some functionality.

That didn't work, I think this is more malware / trojan type issue as it's preventing me from running any and all EXE files, even notepad.

Update: I ran this fix, and all my icons and programs are working once again flawlessly, I have to chkdsk and so forth just to make sure all is good, then make a back up :) I won't declare this thread as solved quite yet :)

Don't install this piece of junk software, anyone, your troubles may be ten times worse then mine.

It proved one thing, I have a smooth running system :)
