    Possible Mouse bug in Microsoft Security Essentials in an update


    Possibly bug in Microsoft Security Essentials in an update. The left (or right) mouse button take extra click(s) to work. I originally thought it was the mouse going bad, I switched mouse buttons in the control panel the same thing happen to the other button. I disabled real time scan briefly, then it worked a lot better. Anyway to report this bug?

    I have MSE and do not have the mouse button problem you have.

    A faulty mouse driver is a more likely cause of problems, possibly conflicting with the antivirus.
    What about updating or disabling the driver to try that too?

    I found a fix that works. For some reason the file stopped recognizing the double click made when using the mouse. I choose single mouse click in folder options, that seems to have fixed this issues.

Today it was an attempt to update Microsoft Security Essentials. Error code 80070005. Aaaaarrrggghhh
Firewall is not blocking MSE for sure. Internet connection is perfectly fine. Tried googling for some answers but nothing much about MSE. Does anyone have an answer?
One disadvantage of Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is that it uses Windows Update to update the virus definition files. If you disabled the Windows update for some reasons MSE won’t update anymore. The MSE Update Utility can be used here to update MSE even if Windows Update is disabled.
