Is it malware

I occasionally get a message " Recording devise detected" it fades before I can read it Is it the system or malware

If your running a laptop with a webcam (or a PC with a webcam), there's a possibility someone is remotely accessing your cam or even your mike.

Have you done a scan with anything else aside from McAfee? If not, suggest you d/l & run Malwarebytes. The free version will work fine, just be sure to uncheck "start free pro trial" when the installation is complete. Do a full system scan & quarantine anything it finds.
