    Yontoo malware

    I have this malware on my laptop called yontoo. I ran malwarebytes and another malware program to attempt to get rid of this program. It did get rid of quite a few files associated with it, but when I go into add/remove programs it's still there. When I attempt to uninstall the program, I get an error message. I have done all this in regular mode and safe mode. Anyone have any help?
    Thanks so much,

    I am using an HP, with windows 7

    This may be the best way to remove the adware.
    Remove Yontoo Layers (Uninstall Guide)
    If this does not work try using adwcleane, an online cleaner.
    If none of the above does the trick, I think going back a week prior to the problem with system restore will work.

    Please advise us of the out come.

    This basically just says to go into add/remove programs and uninstall it which is what I have been attempting to do, but I keep getting an error message. The error says setup initialization error. I can not restore to a previous point, since I don't have the disks for the computer. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    alyseshadow,

    Let's try the following:

    Please use the tool Zoek:
    Download > Download z o e k . e x e version 5.0.0.0
    Click the left button: Download Zoek.exe

    When the download appears, save to the Desktop.

    Next, temporarily disable your AV program so it does not interfere with the running of this program..
    Info on how to disable your security applications > How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs - Security Mini-Guides

    On the Desktop, right-click the Zoek.exe file and select: Run as Administrator (Give it a few seconds to appear.)

    Next, copy/paste the entire script inside the code box below to the input field of Zoek:
    Code:
    StandardSearch;
    installer-list;
    installedprogs;
    uninstall-list;
    emptyfolderscheck;
    srinfo;

    Now...
    • Close any open Browsers.
    • Click the Run script button, and wait. It takes a few minutes to run all the script.
    • When the tool finishes, the zoek-results.log is opened in Notepad.
    • The log is also found on the systemdrive, normally C:\
    • If a reboot is needed log is opened after the reboot.
    Please post the zoek-results.log in your reply.
