What do you think about Agnitum Outpost Security Suite?

    Hi

What do you think about this security suite?
I used their standalone firewall before and it performed pretty well for me, worked transparently, did not break any services (like homegroup, file sharing etc) without me wanting it to, etc...

They also have their full featured security suite which is like any other Internet Security suite. That includes the antivirus + firewall + antispam etc...

Currently I have ESET Smart security but since they do have a free trial (and even a free lite version) I might give it a try...

What do you think? Did you ever use it? How is it? Is it good?

I'm mainly interested in it's antivirus performance. I know the firewall part is good, but how about the AV. I believe they said somewhere they use their own technology, which might be great, but I'm gonna look up some benchmarks before instaling it on my main computer. It is already installed on my desktop and it's working fine. No problems so far, it's quite fast and stable.

Wow that seems to be a low score... Do you think it's bad? I used their standalone firewall before, never had problems with it and I preferred it because it gave me so much details and controls.
But I have no information on its antivirus part.

I see it passed VB100 that's good, but they do no take part in other comparisons.

If anybody has experience with the antivirus part of Outpost please write!
I'm thinking of it or ESET Smart Security, they look similar.

Always been a user of this suite, it performs very well with very low system resources. I wouldn't trust those reviews much, just check the feature list carefully and see if it is for you. Its antivirus never let me down, and they even include a live CD to always have handy. It is an advanced program so expect some tweaking and getting-to-know if you want to get the most out of it - it's not in the "set and forget" category, although it can be made to work like that (I wouldn't recommend it).

They are currently working on a new version, which will also offer Windows 10 compatibility (current 9.1 version is not compatible). It is expected any day now, hopefully.

As a pretty active self-researcher/student of seeking out/function testing most assorted antivirus/security tools/utilities over the past year, I am surprised when I still run across one that I have never heard of....

Agnitum falls in the category of 'never heard of it'....; perhaps it is the next MalwareBytes, but, I'd wait for a test/review from someplace established.

The Outpost Firewall is known and well-respected for many years, famed for its highly configurable nature (complex and daunting for some). It's not excessive to say they're leaders where software firewalls are concerned. The Antivirus module that came later scored less in reviews. The Antivirus technology was someone else's at first, then they acquired it fully.

One of the strong points of the suite is that it's lightweight on the system, quite the contrary from some of the "big" names. Agnitum's Wikipedia entry is interesting and you'll see their technologies are being used/branded by others.

I think it's quite useful -if not necessary- to have non-Western players in this important sector. Even more so after the NSA business.
