I have several of the programs listed by MBAE free as being protected (IE, Adobe Acrobat, M$ Word, M$ Excel, M$ PowerPoint, WMP, and VLC Player) but the General tab shows only one Shielded application; according to the logs, that is IE. The option to activate a shield is grayed out. Is this normal?

Acrobat, Office, Media Players require the paid, premium version:
    Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit - Free Zero-Day Exploit Protection

(Note: it appears that the page linked above hasn't yet been updated to reflect changes in 1.06 (addition of certain browsers to Free protection). However, AFAIK, it is still true that MS Office and Acrobat and the various media players require the paid version.)

Those options would be enabled after activation to the Premium version with a paid license ID/key.

Please refer to the links in my earlier reply for additional details.

    Thank you,

Each computer is unique, so it's hard to generalize about MBAE "not working" with IE or Flash or any other program or application.
Yepperz, each system is unique. I noticed it caused no problems on my Wife's laptop (7 64), it did cause problems on my PC's 7 32, 7 64....but not on my 8.1.

    Gotta love diversity

Then @pbust or another staff member will be more than happy to assist you, for free, either in a new topic in the support section HERE, or at the Help Desk

Thank you for the link. It's not so much of a PIA then more of a curiosity. One probable cause is that I have various monitoring/security programs running which might be interfering. I haven't heard of a whole lot of people encountering errors with it so it seems a pretty small percentage are effected.

    @Lady Fitzgerald

I noticed that when I updated VLC, MBAE wouldn't allow it. Once I disabled it, I could update VLC. So you might have to turn MBAE off if you have probs updating that prog.

Thanks for the heads up. So far, I haven't had any problems apparently caused by MABE.

This new version of Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit introduces protection for a lot of new browsers, which is something many of you have been asking for a long time. In addition to the main browsers, MBAE Free now also protects Maxthon, Seamonkey, Palemoon, IceDragon, Cyberfox, Tor Browser Bundle, Waterfox and some others.

Any ComodoDragon users out there? Does MBAE cover this Chromium fork?

AFAIK, it was not added to the list of browsers shielded by the Free version 1.06.

I think one would need to set a Custom Shield with the "browser" profile, using the Paid, Premium version of MBAE, in order to shield that particular browser.

However, just to be sure, you could pose the question HERE, in the MBAE Questions sub-forum.

    Thank you,

I just installed MBAE free on a WTP Build 10049 VM.
I can click on activate and get a message showing the Premium version is needed.

What you describe is different from the issue LF reported.

If you click the "Buy Now" button, you should be taken to the Malwarebytes store to purchase a license.

If you click the "Activate" button, it should offer the ability to enter your paid license ID and key that you already purchased from the Malwarebytes store or a trusted reseller (see screen shot -- it is from 1.05, but it should be the same for 1.06). Once you have done that, the "open" padlocks on the default listed applications should change to a locked position.

If you click a Premium feature in the Free version that has NOT been activated to Premium, you will see the image you posted. In other words, one cannot use the Premium features until the program has been activated to Premium with the license ID and Key. It looks as if you were trying to activate a Premium feature without having activated the PROGRAM itself?

    Thank you,
