PC Tools Threatfire; recommend as an on-demand
If anyone's thinking of downloading, installing, using PC Tools Threatfire, I recommend configuring it as an on-demand tool. Default Actions --> first 2 = Prompt Me, 3rd = Quarantine and Alert. I don't recommend the first two actions set as allow or quarantine. Threatfire Protection = Off. I think the community reports may be useful, kinda sorta like Fox & CNN Kwik-News.

I had problems with Threatfire causing BSODs on my old XP machine.

Personally I leave it on at all times unless installing windows updates or other trusted software. If you keep getting prompted about programs making connections it's best to choose "allow the connection" and "Remember my choice" and it won't bother you again. Problem software needs to be blocked via your firewall if needed.
